Curriculum vitae

Paul Hünermund is Professor of Empirical Economics and Data Science at the TUM School of Management, Department of Economics & Policy. He joined the Technical University of Munich in April 2026 after holding academic positions at Copenhagen Business School, where he advanced from Assistant Professor (tenure track) to Associate Professor, and previously at Maastricht University as Assistant Professor.

He earned his PhD in Business Economics from KU Leuven in Belgium and conducted parallel research at the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) in Mannheim. During his doctoral studies, he was a visiting researcher at New York University’s Stern School of Business. His work also includes contributions to externally funded research projects, among them projects supported by the European Commission and the German Ministry of Research and Education.

He holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Economics from the University of Mannheim.
