EMPOWERING TOMORROW: SUSTAINABLE ENERGIES AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP

The International Summer School “Empowering Tomorrow: Sustainable Energies and Entrepreneurship” is a two-week, Master-level intensive offered by the TUM School of Management in close academic collaboration with the TUM SEED Center for Sustainable Energies, Entrepreneurship and Development in the Global South (SEED). The TUM SEED Center is responsible for the academic concept and content of the Summer School, including SEED topics such as renewable energies, solar mini-grids, and sustainable energy entrepreneurship, while the TUM School of Management is in charge of the overall organization of the program.

The program examines entrepreneurial and innovation-based approaches to the global energy transition, with a particular focus on Sustainable Development Goal 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy). Hosted on the TUM campus in Munich, the Summer School combines lectures, interactive seminars, workshops, supervised group project work, and select site visits, many of which are developed and delivered by SEED researchers and partners. Participants work in international, interdisciplinary teams to develop and pitch a sustainable energy business model. Successful completion awards 6 ECTS (awarded by TUM School of Management); assessment consists of a final group presentation and a short written paper (max. 3,000 words).

Through external grant funding, the TUM SEED Center may provide scholarships (e.g., mobility grants) for students from SEED partner universities, particularly from the Global South, to support their participation in the Summer School. The TUM SEED Center itself is a non-profit, grant-funded research and teaching center that does not collect fees or generate profit from the program. All financial matters, including tuition and program fees, are handled exclusively by the TUM School of Management.
