The EU-Week is an annual event which takes place every year in May.
The European Union Week 2023 will take place from May 8-12, 2023 in a hybrid format (in-person and online). Its goal is, as in earlier years, to celebrate the European Union and to inform our students and the wider public about it.
The European Union Week is again jointly organized with TUM Speakers Series, HEC Paris, HEC Débats and Koźmiński University. This year, we are glad to welcome POLIMI Graduate School of Management in Milan as a new partner.
We are excited we have had Manfred Weber - leader of the EPP group in the European Parliament - as a keynote speaker this year. In this kick-off event, Mr Weber shared his thoughts and insights on “The Future of Europe: Main Challenges and Solutions”.

The recent energy crisis and skyrocketing prices for electricity and natural gas have once more highlighted the crucial role that energy plays for our economy. At the same time, the urge to further decarbonize our economy has not disappeared and remains to attract attention among the public, industry, and policymakers. In this EU Week event, we discussed the recent energy crises and ways forward for decarbonization. We were delighted to host two excellent speakers from academia and industry, Dr. Kong Chyong (Columbia University, New York) and Burkhard von Kienitz (COO Processes at E.ON, one of the leading European utilities).

Matteo Villa, Senior Research Fellow at ISPI who co-heads the ISPI Data Lab, focused on monitoring geopolitical and geo-economic trends. His topics were energy security and green transition.

In her talk “The European Approach to AI”, Professor Aleksandra Przegalinska from Kozminski University examined the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in shaping the future of the European Union and gave insights on such aspects as the transformation of society, including the economy, healthcare, education, and governance.

Professor Grzegorz W. Kolodko spoke about the subject of the Second Cold War and its implications for the European integration.

Prof. Dr. Christoph Ann from TUM School of Management spoke about one of the pioneers of the European Union in his presentation "Robert Schuman’s Vision and Legacy: Peace in Europe".

In a joint event, Sandrine Gaudin - Vice-Governor CEB - and Grégoire Chauvière Le Drian - Head of European Investment Bank (EIB) Group Office in France - talked about the financing of the European economy and the role of specific institutions such as CEB and EIB.

Michel Barnier - the EU's chief Brexit negotiator - gave an in-depth talk about Brexit, the positioning of the EU with the UK, the negotiations and of course the consistence of this Union and its future evolutions.

In this year's last event, Renato Mazzoncini - CEO and Managing Director of the Italian Utility Company A2A - spoke about the "European Union and Energy Transition: the Perspective of a Utility Company".
This event - organised by the POLIMI Graduate School of Management - was held in Italian and was streamed online.
The European Union Week 2022 took place from May 9-12, 2022 in a hybrid format (in-person and online) and was organized by the TUM School of Management, together with the TUM Speakers Series, HEC Paris, HEC Débats and our new partner Akademia Leona Koźmińskiego (Kozminski University). At the kick-off event of the EU-Week Mariya Gabriel, EU Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, presented the priorities of the forthcoming European Innovation Agenda and the new European higher education strategy during a visit to TUM. The Commissioner emphasized the role of talents and deep-tech startups for the future of Europe. Please find the video of the whole speech below.
As part of the European Union Week 2021, the TUM School of Management, in cooperation with the HEC Paris and the student associations TUM Speakers Series and HEC Débats, organized a three-day conference, which took place for the very first time in an online format from May 10 – 12, 2021. Each of the conference days addressed a major topic of contemporary relevance for the European continent and aimed to inform students all over Europe about the state of the European Union, ultimately providing a perspective about the EU’s present and future.
We believe that grasping the unique historical dimensions of the EU is essential in order to secure our shared future. At the heart of the events lies our commitment to the continuation of a single, united Europe.
