The International Summer School “Empowering Tomorrow: Sustainable Energies and Entrepreneurship” is a two-week, Master-level intensive offered by the TUM School of Management in collaboration with the TUM SEED Center. The program examines entrepreneurial and innovation-based approaches to the global energy transition, with a particular focus on Sustainable Development Goal 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy).
Hosted on the TUM campus in Munich, the Summer School combines lectures, interactive seminars, workshops, supervised group project work, and select site visits. Participants work in international, interdisciplinary teams to develop and pitch a sustainable energy business model. Successful completion awards 6 ECTS; assessment consists of a final group presentation and a short written paper (max. 3,000 words).

Recap of the International Summer School 2025
International Summer School 2025: Empowering Tomorrow
Over the course of two weeks, the International Summer School 2025 brought together 17 young changemakers from 11 countries at the TUM School of Management. Under the theme “Empowering Tomorrow: Sustainable Energies and Entrepreneurship”, the program, organized in collaboration with the TUM SEED Center, created a vibrant space for learning, exchange, and collaboration around sustainable energy solutions.
Participants attended lectures and interactive workshops on sustainable entrepreneurship, innovative business models, AI in the energy transition, and investment readiness, led by experts from the Technical University of Munich, Africa GreenTec, Polarstern Energie, and other partners. Beyond the classroom, the program included a guided tour of Munich, as well as field visits to pioneering initiatives such as tozero (lithium battery recycling), TUM Venture Labs, and UnternehmerTUM, offering direct insights into Germany’s dynamic clean-tech ecosystem.
Throughout the Summer School, participants refined their pitching and storytelling skills, culminating in final presentations of sustainable business solutions addressing real-world challenges. The program concluded with a certificate ceremony and a farewell gathering, celebrating the knowledge, creativity, and networks that had emerged, as well as the shared commitment to driving a more sustainable future.

It is an intensive two-week master 's-level program at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). The curriculum combines lectures, workshops, pitch sessions, and site visits on sustainable energies, the global energy transition, and sustainable business models, coordinated by the TUM SEED Center.

All academic and social activities will be conducted in English.
The program is primarily designed for international Master’s students and early-career professionals with a background and strong interest in sustainable energies and/or entrepreneurship. Other applicants (e.g., strong Bachelor’s students or early PhD students) may be considered if they demonstrate strong motivation and are capable of working at the Master’s level.

Applicants should submit a CV, a transcript of records, and a motivation statement in English. The official call will provide the complete list of requirements.
Participants who successfully complete the program and fulfil the assessment criteria will receive 6 ECTS credits.
All participants will receive a certificate of participation. Additionally, participants can receive an official ECTS confirmation from TUM School of Management after successfully completing the assessment requirements, if applicable.
A group presentation on the final day and a short written paper linked to the team’s developed business model (max. 3,000 words).

Scholarships are available only for currently enrolled Master’s students from SEED partner universities. The full list of the SEED partner universities can be found here.
Please note that the scholarship selection for participation in the International Summer School 2026 is an independent process carried out exclusively by the TUM SEED Center. This scholarship process: (1) follows a different application procedure, (2) is not linked to the regular Summer School registration form, and (3) is not available to applicants outside the SEED partner university network.
