Amping Up Confidence: High Standards, High Vax Rates!

Tag Research

Looking back at the rearview mirror, we can glean valuable insights to shape tomorrow's strategies. The Covid-19 pandemic has profoundly shifted societal attention towards broader health concerns, particularly in the realm of vaccine development. A robust vaccination rate stands as the bastion against the perilous consequences of this viral menace. A recent investigation led by Philipp Lergetporer, a distinguished Economics Professor at the TUM Campus in Heilbronn, sheds light on how distinct approval procedures can sway individuals' inclination toward vaccination.

Collaborating with Silvia Angerer, Daniela Glätzle-Rützler, and Thomas Rittmannsberger, Lergetporer meticulously examined data from over 2,000 participants in Germany. The findings of this empirical inquiry reveal that vaccines granted "conditional approval," as opposed to those under "emergency approval," amplify respondents' willingness to embrace vaccination by a notable 13 percent. This underscores the pivotal role of heightened efficacy testing standards in bolstering public confidence.
