The Munich Intellectual Property Law Center (MIPLC) is committed to educating the next generation of experts working at the interface of emerging technologies, dynamic markets, and the law. Established through a collaborative effort among four renowned partners—the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition (MPI), the University of Augsburg, the Technical University of Munich, and the George Washington University Law School—MIPLC offers a comprehensive one-year graduate LL.M. program in Intellectual Property and Competition Law.
Situated at the MPI, a globally leading research institution in Munich, MIPLC provides students with unparalleled access to cutting-edge research and expertise in the field. Upon successful completion, graduates are awarded the esteemed academic degree of Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Intellectual Property and Competition Law, jointly conferred by the University of Augsburg and the Technical University of Munich.
1. University or College Degree:
Bachelor’s degree or higher required.
Previous degrees in various fields accepted.
Minimum 240 ECTS credits (equivalent to a four-year Bachelor’s degree).
Up to 60 ECTS credits may be earned through professional experience.

2. Professional Experience:
At least one year of full-time professional experience required.
Recognized experiences include paid positions, postgraduate internships, research assistant roles, and legal traineeships.
3. English Language Skills:
Proficiency in English required.
Minimum scores on TOEFL, IELTS, or Cambridge C1 accepted.
Exemptions for native English speakers or graduates from English-language institutions.
Visa applicants may need to fulfill English proficiency requirements.
Application Periods and Deadline
Applications for admission are accepted from December 1 until April 30 for the following academic year.
Program Dates
The MIPLC LL.M. program commences the first week of October and ends with the graduation ceremony in November of the following year.
Scholarships
Applications for the fee waiver scholarship are accepted from December 1 until April 30 for the following academic year starting and must be submitted together with the application for admission.
Candidates who seek financial assistance from the DAAD scholarship for "Development-Related Postgraduate Courses" must apply for both admission to the program and the scholarship more than a year in advance. For them, the application period is June 1 to October 15 for the intake of the following academic year.
